The leadership of the RCPN is pleased to announce a partnership created with Small Church Connections. (www.smallchurchconnections.com)
In late spring a 'rural matters' event was hosted by the RCPN in Calgary. Dr. Ron Johnston from SCC was one of the featured speakers and it became evident as leaders from both oranizations spent time together over a two day period, that it would be a desire to create a partnership in which both organizations would support the other's goals and passions.
The partnership will see the RCPN supporting SCC in the creation of two small church ministry conferences to be held across Canada in each of the next five year. In 2017 these conferences will be held at Briercrest (Sask) in April and Moncton (New Brunswick) in June ... in 2018 Southern Alberta and Southern Ontario.
The goal of each conference is to 'royally bless' those who serve in small church settings, which is the default situation in most rural churches. By raising funds, and attracting solid presenters from within the Canadian context... it is felt that rural pastors and leaders will have access to experiences designed specifically for them and their ministry needs.
The leadership of SCC will support the plans of the RCPN in creating regional connection points across Canada that will eventually find rural pastors with the ability to gather with other rural pastors for mutual encouragement, training, and fellowship within a 90 minute drive of their location. Currently there are 10 such regional hubs in place in western Canada.
With the emergence of small church/rural based ministry conferences and a network of rural ministry connection point for church pastors/leaders across Canada we believe those serving in isolated and often forgotten ministry sites will be affirmed, encouraged, and equipped in the coming days.
