Tim Beadle and his wife Heather are travelling around the Maritimes to connect with 9 denominations - with the poential for an expected 75 pastors and denominational leaders being exposed to the RCPN with 13 events that will have them take part in a RCPN experience! Here are some highlights so far from Tim and Heather:
We had a great hub leader retreat for our Alberta Hub leaders on April 13-14. What a great group of rural pastors. They are committed to the rural church and to encouraging other rural pastors. During our event we invited input into our next sessions which we will be doing in May. You can register here. We also got some input on what he next theme for the fall might be.
Our desire as an RCPN leadership team, is that we multiply our efforts by finding local hub leaders all across Canada who want to encourage the rural pastors in there area. We invite them(you) to contact us and let us know if you want to partner with us for your local area of rural churches. And then as we train the hub leaders, those of us on the leadership team do not have to be at every event. We are all full time pastors and just volunteering for this network, but if others join in we can still impact every rural church in Canada.
God is doing a new thing and He is using rural pastors to make it happen!
Here is a conference dedicated to beginning new works. They are even talking about addressing "rural strategies". Check it out.
Our RCPN team spent some time in North Carolina back in October. We met with a group at Duke University that works with the United Methodists and their rural churches. They had done some research and came up with a list of 13 Characteristics of their Thriving Rural Church Initiative Partner Churches. Click here for a look.
Our team thought through this list and came up with a condensed list of 7 Elements of a Thriving Rural Church. Download here. This is NOT a finished document, so please speak into it from your experience. Let us know your thoughts.
